NEWSSarah Newall has been selected as a finalist in the David Harold Tribe Sculpture Award with her work Storage unit for living: bookshelf and chest of draws. The winner of the $ 11,000 award will be annouced on 14 October at the finalists exhibition to be held at the SCA galleries, at the University of Sydney, Sydney College of the Arts. The aim of the award is to promote interest in sculpture and to provide funds for further education in the field of sculpture and to improve the public's appreciation of sculpture. Sarah Newall's work Koromiko has been selected as a finalist in the Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize, which is an acquisitive award of$ 10,000. The winner will be announced at the finalists exhibition at Woollahra Council Chambers on Friday 24 October 2008. Marita Fraser is now represented by JAMES DORAHY PROJECT SPACE after presenting her highly successful project show MODERN LOVE. Nairn Scott's suite of works untitled (face-value # 1 - 12) from the exhibition 9 shades of white, have been acquired by artbank. Nairn is also now represented by JAMES DORAHY PROJECT SPACE after his successful project show Value Added. Sherna Teperson has also joined JAMES DORAHY PROJECT SPACE, rounding out the 'Bakers Dozen' of artists represented, and is appropriate considering her use of wood fired bread as a sculptural material in her highly successful project show Paradise & Questions. Elvis Richardson is currently exhibiting in the inaugural Basil Sellers Art Prize at the Ian Potter Museum of Art, University of Melbourne, which was won by the artist Daniel Crooks. A people's choice award of $ 5,000 will be awarded at the end of the exhibition on 26 October 2008. Paul Ogier's work Hauptbahnhof, Berlin 2007 has just been acquired by the Art Gallery of New South Wales. |
